Welcome to Lifeline Central Australia. Lifeline Central Australia Incorporated opened in Alice Springs on the 1st July 2003. Our primary focus is on community education and training, particularly in the area of suicide awareness and prevention.
Community Education
Provides community education and outreach about suicide prevention, awareness and assistance for all communities across the Northern Territory, including remote and isolated communities.
Lifeline Telephone Crisis Support
A twenty-four-hour telephone crisis support, information and referral service available nationally that provides an immediate and confidential opportunity to discuss a problem or concern.
The service responds to callers of all ages with a wide range of concerns and emergencies including matters involving relationships, domestic violence, family issues, youth issues, child abuse, anxiety, depression, postnatal depression, loneliness, unemployment, grief, problems at work or school, homelessness, money worries, drug & alcohol problems and suicide. A particular focus is suicide prevention and mental health.
Training Services
Workshops such as Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), safeTALK and The Accidental Counsellor. The courses run over two days or for half a day and are relevant for community members, mental health workers, housing workers, medical practitioners, teachers & school support staff, counsellors, youth workers, domestic violence support workers, drug & alcohol workers, police & corrections staff and clergy.
