Accommodation & Housing Support

We provide transitional accommodation (short to medium-term) and case management support to individuals, couples and families experiencing or at risk of homelessness. People are assisted to sort through presenting issues and stabilise their circumstances. We focus on engagement, food security, health and wellbeing, building parenting, life and tenancy skills, connections to support systems, culture and community and planning for the future. Accommodation is provided through 2 main multi-unit accommodation complexes.

YASS provides transitional accommodation (short to medium term),case management, outreach support, information, referrals and advocacy support to young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness aged between 15 – 19 years in Katherine, Darwin and Palmerston (and the rural) areas. We work with young people, stakeholders and communities to raise awareness about Youth Homelessness and to explore solutions.

YYHOPP provides accommodation and assists 15–19 year olds who are homeless or at risk of homelessness to develop the necessary skills to access and sustain housing in the private, communty and social housing rental sectors. YHOPP has a strong focus on engagement with training and employment opportunities and securing long term housing options.

Anindilyakwa Housing Aboriginal Corporation (AHAC) was established in 2018 to facilitate decision making by Anindilyakwa people in respect of the ownership, location, design, and occupation of community housing across the Groote Archipelago.

This includes the communities of Angurugu, Umbakumba, Milyakburra, and Satellite communities of Malkala, Bartalumba Bay, Little Paradise, Four Mile, Thompsons Bay, Emerald River, Salt Lake, and Yenbakwa.

The Arramwelke Aboriginal Corporation, based at Bonya, is directly funded by the Northern Territory and Commonwealth Governments to provide all municipal and essential services, and ‘repairs and maintenance’ to Aboriginal houses at Bonya and four other smaller Homelands located north-east of Alice Springs, along the Plenty Highway. Arramwelke Aboriginal Corporation also operates a small shop at Bonya selling essential food items and other merchandise.

Bawinanga is a progressive Aboriginal corporation based in Maningrida. We represent and assist the 4000 Aboriginal people of the 32 homelands surrounding Maningrida in West Arnhem Land.

 Crisis accommodation is available for women and their children who are experiencing domestic violence. Twenty-four-hour contact is available.
