Mission Australia – Katherine Housing Support Services
Katherine Housing Support works with individuals and families identified by Territory Housing who are transitioning from homelessness or risk of homelessness, to public housing. The program provides intensive case management to help clients gain skills which will enable them to successfully manage their own tenancy, and ongoing support for 12 months to ensure they are able to maintain their tenancy in the long-term.

Mission Australia – Stuart Lodge Support Services
Stuart Lodge provides transitional accommodation for singles/families in Alice Springs experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Stuart Lodge has 33 rooms (with up to 68 beds). Stuart Lodge’s support services provide assessment, case coordination/case management services associated with participants experiencing homelessness who are residing at the Stuart Lodge facility. We actively work to expand family support partnerships with parenting and child care programs across the region to help facilitate improved family outcomes across all our NT services.

One Tree Community Services Inc – Wadeye Safe House
Based in the Northern Territory (NT) town of Wadeye, Wadeye safe house is the only safe house in the area that provides a 24-hour service, 365 days a year. Wadeye safe house provides emergency accommodation and support for women and children who are experiencing domestic violence. Since opening in 2011, Wadeye safe house has steadily grown from providing crisis accommodation for eight to over 90 women and children per month, from more than 20 clan groups. One Tree aims to empower service users to leave harmful situations through advocacy and to provide women with the skills to become economically and socially independent.
The Wadeye safe house provides:
- crisis accommodation;
- case management;
- referral services;
- safety planning using a therapeutic tool designed specifically to work with Indigenous people; and
- community awareness raising.

Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation (Purple House) runs from its headquarters in a suburban house in Alice Springs.
Purple House’s mission is ‘Making all our families well’. Flexibility and cultural safety are at the centre of everything we do. It’s the ‘Purple House way’.
We now offer remote dialysis, social support, aged-care and NDIS services, and run a bush medicine social enterprise called Bush Balm. And our services are expanding. Since the opening of the first dialysis clinic in Kintore in 2004, we now run 19 remote clinics and two mobile dialysis units called the Purple Truck, which allows patients to head back home to visit family, for festivals, funerals and other cultural business. We are always getting new requests to open dialysis units in new communities and have a number of projects in progress.

Salvation Army – Alice Springs Men’s Hostel
This service exists to provide accommodation for homeless men, without discrimination. In the provision of this service we aim to build supportive relationships with our clients in a positive environment in accordance with Christian faith and practice. We aim to empower clients to make lifestyle choices that will enhance their quality of life and assist them to live independently.
Services provided:
- Accommodation, meals and support to homeless men
- Counselling
- Referrals to appropriate services for assistance
- Support to clients living in the community
We have 21 beds for young men over age 18, catering in particular for those with mental health issues. The accommodation is meant to be short-term so we endeavour to help them to find more stable accommodation if they wish to remain in Alice Springs.
We provide 3 meals a day and provide support through referrals to employment agencies, medical treatment, counselling and the Positive Lifestyle course where it is appropriate.
Most of the accommodation is single room with shared bathroom facilities. We also have some single rooms with ensuites.

Salvation Army – Red Shield Hostel
The Red Shield Hostel provides short to 6 month accommodation for singles over 18 who are at risk of homelessness. Residents have access to our Street 2 Home, Door Ways and Positive Lifestyle programs all designed to assist people back into mainstream society and out of poverty.
Red Shield Housing Services
- Budget priced single rooms for vulnerable singles over 18 who are deemed to be at risk of homelessness
- All rooms are accessed via internal staircases
- There are no lifts in the building
- Bookings can be made between 9am and 3:30pm daily
- Rent is payable in advance, we do not give credit
- Promotes a drug-free, alcohol-free, and violence-free environment
- Guests are required to observe hostel rules
- No pets allowed
Single rooms
- Rooms are available on a 6 month basis.
- Rooms are fan cooled and contain a single bed, table, chair, storage cupboards and small fridge
- Hostel staff service all rooms on a weekly basis and provide fresh linen
- Communal kitchen, male and female amenities are located on each level of the building
- Coin operated laundry is located on the ground floor
Street2Home Case Management Program
As part of the Red Shield Hostels commitment to empowering clients, we offer a case management program called Street2Home.
What can you expect?
- Weekly meetings with your case worker, and more frequently if required.
- Help with establishing goals in your life and support from your case worker to achieve these
- Encouragement to participate in programs run by other organisations
- Support from your case worker to take initiative and be self supported
- Regular social outings and involvement in cultural activities
- Assistance completing applications and referrals for other helpful services
- Understanding when things might not go as planned
