    Kalano Community Association – Venndale Rehabilitation Centre

    Venndale Rehabilitation Centre is a twelve-week residential rehabilitation program of Kalano Community Association Aboriginal Corporation.

    Venndale has been delivering clinical model-based rehabilitation service that is culturally appropriate with 24-hour care to clients. Our holistic case management with one on one sessions as well as group education sessions will support clients in their journey to overcome alcohol & other drugs related harm and the impact on their lives, families, and their communities.

    Venndale program includes education groups on relapse prevention, self-esteem, life skills, mental health, legal awareness, cultural activities, fishing, therapeutic activities such as art therapy. Skills for Employment and Education Program is facilitated by Steps Groups Australia at Venndale. Counselling, primary health, financial literacy, diet and fitness programs, and other information sessions such as NO MORE (Family and domestic violence program) are delivered by external agencies

    Macsafe Community Safety

    Now called MacSafe, MacDonnell Regional Council’s Community Safety program has transitioned from a Night Patrol program to a Community Safety Program.

    As a part of the Indigenous Advancement Strategy, MacSafe receives core funding from Prime Minister and Cabinet to deliver Community Safety services in 12 of Council’s remote communities. MacSafe also receives program specific funding from the Department of Health to deliver Alcohol Harm Reduction programs in three communities.

    Mission Australia – Darwin Sobering Up Shelter

    The Darwin Sobering Up Shelter provides overnight accommodation to homeless and displaced people (18 and over) who are under the influence of alcohol and other drugs and are at risk of harm. NT Police and Larrakia Night Patrol bring people to the Sobering Up Shelter from the greater Darwin and Palmerston areas. Shelter staff then assist clients with referrals to services that can help them to improve their health and wellbeing. We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all Territorians living with blood-borne viruses. Our service delivery operates from a holistic approach in accordance with the objectives of the Ottawa Charter (1986) and guided by key national and Northern Territory policies and legislation.
    Health Promotion

    NTAHC’s Health Promotion and Communications team works to generate awareness within the community about BBVs and STIs, in particular by creating health promotion campaigns and resources targeting NTAHC priority populations.

    Care and Support Program

    NTAHC offers a range of services to empower all people affected by, or at risk of blood borne viruses, to lead a healthy life that is free of stigma and discrimination.

    Harm Reduction (NSP)

    NSP provides a comprehensive range of free sterile injecting equipment and disposal facilities, education on safe injecting practices and health promotion.

    Sex Worker Outreach Program – SWOP NT

    The SWOP NT is a peer-based health promotion service that engages sex workers and other sex industry stakeholders in the Northern Territory.

    LGBTI Living Well Program

    This program, an NTAHC initiative, supports people in the Northern Territory who experience life as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) through a range of varied and focused activities.

    Strong Steps

    Strong Steps is a free service for anyone who is affected by alcohol or drug issues.

    Situated in Darwin’s rural area, Strong Steps is funded by Northern Territory PHN and run by CAAPS Aboriginal Corporation. Strong Steps offers counselling and education to any individual (above 13 years old) and / or family member or friend who is experiencing issues with alcohol or other drugs.

    Counselling, Early and brief intervention, Assessment and Screening, Information and education.

    Diverse and experienced staff are able to provide information to anyone affected by methamphetamine, alcohol or other drugs. You can drop in or make an appointment to see us in a child friendly, comfortable and confidential environment in Coolalinga.  We also offer phone counselling.
