    Families & Schools Together (FAST) NT

    Families and Schools Together (FAST) is a program that focuses on strengthening families by improving their relationships within the family and between families and schools. All families can join a FAST program.

    Baby FAST, Kids FAST and Youth FAST operate across various locations in the Northern Territory. Families attend the eight-week program, which involves coming together once a week and intentionally spending time together as a family.

    Activities may include sharing a meal and undertaking family activities. Participants also have the opportunity to be involved in Parent Group and Kids Time.

    FAST is an evidence based program utilising strengths-based approach and provides training for local community members and agency workers to run the program. Parents are empowered to be the leaders of their families.

    Train: On-the-job paid training working in the Northern Territory Government and not-for-profit organisations in 2021 for up to 100 students

    Katherine Isolated Children’s Service (KICS)

    Katherine Isolated Children’s Service is a not-for-profit, registered charity and an incorporated association. KICS began remote playgroups in the Northern Territory in 1988 and became incorporated in 1989.

    Katherine Isolated Children’s Service visits children and families who are socially and geographically isolated. KICS visits children living on pastoral properties, in Indigenous communities, in the small towns of Mataranka, Timber Creek and Elliott and participates in invitational events such as campdrafts, Ladies Days, Family Days and Katherine School of the Air events.

    Minyerri School Nutrition Program

    The Minyerri School Nutrition Program is funded by NIAA. There are 3 full-time staff employed who prepares fresh nutritional cooked & healthy cold meals for the students each school day. The program prepares, delivers and serve 3 meals per day: breakfast, morning tea and lunch. The average number of children in the program is 180 students.

    This program is broadcasted via YouTube and it covers the Li’L Larrikins who are a group of friends having big adventures and learning about natural hazards in a small outback town. In these videos you get to meet Amy, Trev and Jimmy as well as Maddy the Koala and Bob the dog as they learn all about how to prepare for and manage the dangerous bushfire season. Follow along as they teach about fire safety, emergency plans and preventative measures.

    Paddy the Platypus visits schools and community events to teach young Territorians about how to prepare for emergencies, particularly floods and cyclones. NTES offers schools a free educational presentation for a classroom environment and a visit from Paddy.

    Red Dust – Strong Men and Boys Program

    Strong Young Men & Boys Program

    The purpose of the SYMBP is to support the development of strong male Aboriginal youth as they navigate their complex worlds and overcome a range of cultural, spiritual, social-emotional and educational obstacles in order to achieve authentic success in their lives.

    All programs involve explicit and practical cultural synthesis, are delivered in both local language/s and English and are typically facilitated using a combination of strategies including yarning circles, explicit instruction, classroom teacher co-facilitation, peer led participatory approaches and hands-on interactive activities.
