About SANE

Free Digital & Telehealth Complex Mental Health Services.

Our friends at SANE offer a range of free digital and telehealth support services for people over 18 years of age with complex mental health needs, and their family, friends and carers. They also provide mental health support to people with intellectual disability, autism or acquired brain injury.

People can choose from a wide range of support, including telephone counselling and mental health information, peer support sessions, art, social and educational online groups, online resources (including interactive tools and information), and SANE’s professionally moderated peer-support online community, accessible 24 hours a day.

SANE’s new guided service enhances these supports further by offering people living within an eligible PHN region a personalised support plan of ongoing therapeutic, psycho-educational and psycho-social support.

The service, which is founded on the CHIME Mental Health Recovery Framework: Connectedness, Hope & Optimism, Identity, Meaning and Purpose, and Empowerment, aims to:

• Empower people to choose and use ongoing supports to complement existing treatments, enhance life experience and increase social connection
• Foster hope and support skill development to aid personal recovery
• Promote self-management through continuous review of individual needs and ongoing support
• Provide links to community services and available psycho-social supports to facilitate a smooth community transition
• Facilitate referrals to specialised treatment and support services where appropriate
• Provide a positive experience and interaction with a mental health service
• Improve integration between health providers to support people during periods of transition, promote continuity of care and facilitate wrap-around support within local communities.

A referral is required for the guided service. Referrals are now open for people living in the Northern Territory region and can be self-initiated or submitted by a health professional, close family member, carer or referral organisation using the online form at sane.org/referral. SANE’s support team will contact the referred person within seven business days to welcome them and get them started in the program.

Feel free to download and share SANE’s Guided Service Factsheet with people who would benefit from this free program. If you would like additional materials (brochures, posters, etc.) please email SANE.
