Amity provides specialised services relating to alcohol, other drugs and gambling. Amity’s counselling service is for people and/or their family and friends. 

We understand that people use alcohol, drugs and gambling for a variety of reasons and that these behaviours can have both benefits and harms.

We also understand repeated behaviours may become habits and these habits may in turn become a strategy to cope which is not useful.

From this view, our team aims to understand each person’s unique experience and situation and our qualified counsellors provide non-judgmental, professional and confidential counselling sessions. 

Amity works in the gambling area focusing on providing projects and services based on evidence to reduce harms relating to gambling. The range of projects and services enables Amity to work with people, families and communities across the Territory.

Amity is a leading community organisation and works to reduce real and potential harms related to gambling across the Northern Territory for over 20 years. We deliver training packages for staff in diverse gambling venues across the Territory.

Amity also aspires to build capacity of professionals across a range of diverse services and disciplines. We aim to provide information, education and skill-based training sessions and workshops. Amity’s area of expertise is in alcohol, other drugs, gambling and related mental health.

Training sessions and workshops are usually tailored for professionals and/or workplaces and these are developed based on resources and needs.

The East Arnhem Money Support Hub provides free,voluntary and confidential financial counselling,educational activities and advocacy assistance. We assist individuals and families navigate life transitions,financial crises and to build financial capability and resilience. Staff are based in a number of locations in the region,this combines with a regular visitation schedule to other communites and homelands along wiht phone and videconferencing support options.

headspace Katherine is a free and confidential service that can help young people aged 12 to 25 with their mental health and wellbeing. headspace Darwin provides assistance in four key areas: Mental Health,Physical and Sexual Health,Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and Vocational Support. Regular outreach visits occur in specific remote communities within the region. Clinical services are provided by registered allied health practitioners,which include private providers who deliver services under Medicare Benefits Scheme (MBS) and Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS).

HIPPY is a free two-year, play based curriculum of fun activity packs. Starting when your child turns 3, your HIPPY Tutor will practice the activities with you during home visits. Each pack has activities for you to do with your child and ideas so that learning can happen anywhere and any time.

HIPPY assists children to become curious learners and to achieve important developmental milestones.

The Intensive Youth Support Service (IYSS) is for older children / young people aged 10 and 17 years who have come to the attention of Child Protection as at risk of, significant harm. Intensive trauma informed assistance, mentoring and activities are provided to engage, build connections, support school attendance and reduce the risk of further serious physical or emotional harm occurring. IYSS works closely with families to build their capacity to support children through adolescence towards adulthood. *Referrals are through Territory Families, Housing & Communities.

The Ngukurr Freshwater Playgroup is based at the at the Guluman Child and Family Centre. The Playgroup is staffed by a pool of locally based Aboriginal Playgroup Workers and operates in collaboration with the Family as First Teachers (FAFT) program. Activities are age and stage appropiate and encourage parental/carer engagement,cultural connections and school readiness.
