Minyerri is located off of the Roper Highway and is approximately 270 kilometres south-east of Katherine, 80 kilometres off the Roper Highway. Minyerri is also known as Hodgson Downs, as the Minyerri Township is very near the site of the Hodgson Downs Station Residence.
Minyerri has a population of approximately 600 people, some of the common languages spoken at Minyerri are Alawa, Kriol and English.
By road, the trip to Minyerri takes approximately three (3) hours from Katherine. Following the sealed, single lane Roper Highway (which is approximately 10 kilometres from Mataranka) for 80 kilometres will bring you to the Minyerri turn-off. The remaining 80 kilometres is dirt road. Minyerri may also be accessed by chartered light aircraft.
Please be advised that Minyerri is a closed community; which means you need a permit from NLC (Northern Land Council) before you visit.
