Community Education

To help families and friends of alcoholics recover from the effects of living with someone whose drinking is a problem.

Alcohol and other Drug Services Central Australia (ADSCA) is a Northern Territory Government Health Service that provides treatment and support to clients affected by alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the Alice Springs.

ADSCA offers a range of tailored community education and professional training to the local alcohol and other drug sector. We aim to be the leading agency in provision of support to non-government alcohol and drug treatment services.

ADSCA is the referring agency to respond to substance misuse under the Volatile Substance Abuse Prevention Act 2006 and operates the Alice Springs Alcohol Assessment Service under the Alcohol Mandatory Treatment Act 2013.

Amity provides specialised services relating to alcohol, other drugs and gambling. Amity’s counselling service is for people and/or their family and friends.

We understand that people use alcohol, drugs and gambling for a variety of reasons and that these behaviours can have both benefits and harms.

We also understand repeated behaviours may become habits and these habits may in turn become a strategy to cope which is not useful.

From this view, our team aims to understand each person’s unique experience and situation and our qualified counsellors provide non-judgmental, professional and confidential counselling sessions.

Amity works in the gambling area focusing on providing projects and services based on evidence to reduce harms relating to gambling. The range of projects and services enables Amity to work with people, families and communities across the Territory.

Amity is a leading community organisation and works to reduce real and potential harms related to gambling across the Northern Territory for over 20 years. We deliver training packages for staff in diverse gambling venues across the Territory.

Amity also aspires to build capacity of professionals across a range of diverse services and disciplines. We aim to provide information, education and skill-based training sessions and workshops. Amity’s area of expertise is in alcohol, other drugs, gambling and related mental health.

Training sessions and workshops are usually tailored for professionals and/or workplaces and these are developed based on resources and needs.

Community Development Program (CDP)

The Community Development Program (CDP) supports job seekers in remote Australian communities to become \’job-ready\’, address employment barriers, and contribute to their communities through a range of high-quality activities.

ALPA operates a community-controlled model for the delivery of CDP, ensuring that we are working closely with community members to co-design the priorities of the program and to ensure it meets the needs of the wider community in each area that we deliver CDP.

Training

ALPA is a Registered Training Organisation endorsed by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) offering nationally recognised qualifications, currently offering Certificate 1 to 4 from the Retail Services training package SIR, Certificate 1 & 2 from the Community Services training package CHC and Certificate 1 & 2 from the Foundation skills training package FSK.

East Arnhem Youth Model

The East Arnhem Land Youth Model, also aptly named Guŋga’yunga Djamarrkuḻiny (Helping our Children), is a pilot research program that is facilitated by ALPA and is three way funded as a venture between ALPA, The Northern Territory Government and National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).

Community members from Gapuwiyak, Galiwin’ku, Milingimbi and Ramingining are able to propose activities and projects for young people. These proposals are then assessed by local ‘Leadership Groups’. These groups of community leaders direct which projects and activities should be trialled in their communities to strengthen young people. The Leadership Groups manage a pool of funding to support the right activities, run in the right way aligning with a locally developed strategy. Through careful monitoring and evaluation of these activities, we work with the Leadership Groups to monitor what has and hasn\’t worked to strengthen youth, and how to adapt for next time.

The Association of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies Northern Territory (AADANT) Incorporated is the peak body for Alcohol and Other Drugs treatment services in the Northern Territory.

As an independent, membership-driven, not-for-profit association, we work with our members to support and strengthen Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) service delivery for people who experience harmful substance use in the Northern Territory.

Our mission is to build and maintain a strong, sustainable and culturally diverse AOD sector that works together to reduce alcohol and drug-related related harm across the Northern Territory.

Assessment Reports

Provides assessment reports on request for lawyers and the Parole Board in relation to people undertaking the Drug Diversion Program.

Banyan House Rehabilitation Service

Provides accommodation in a residential therapeutic community that offers treatment & rehabilitation services for individuals recovering from alcohol & drug addictions and any co-occurring mental health disorders.

Barkly Region Alcohol and Drug Abuse Advisory Group (BRADAAG) was established in August 1984. We are a non-profit Community-Based agency incorporated under the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, funded from a combination of Territory and Commonwealth Government funded programs.

BRADAAG is the only provider of AOD services for the Barkly Region and covers an area of approximately 320,000 square kilometres. The Tennant Creek and the Barkly region is home to nine Aboriginal groups including the Warumungu, Walpiri, Kaytetye and Alyawarra people.

Our services include:

Alcohol & Other Drug Residential Treatment Centre

Provides accommodation and treatment in a residential setting for a minimum of eight weeks for singles and families with alcohol or other drug problems.

Outreach & After Care

Provides a case-managed outreach and after-care service for those with alcohol or other drug problems.

Accommodation in Transitional Aftercare Units for 13 weeks where clients receive support from BRADAAG Outreach & Aftercare team.

Referral to appropriate services is provided for brief intervention and coordination of facilities & services including education & training programs.

Sobering-Up Shelter

An overnight accommodation shelter is available for those who need a safe place to sober up following drug or alcohol misuse.

Clients who attend the Sobering-Up Shelter have their clothes washed, Breakfast is provided before clients leave the shelter.
