Family Separation Services

The Child and Family Contact Service (CFCS) supports children and young people in the care of the CEO of Territory Families to have meaningful and quality contact with their parents and family members. Families are supported to develop parenting skills and a safe environment to help facilitate the return of children into their care. Where reunification is not possible at that time,children and families are provided with contact opportunities that enhance connection to family,culture and community. Referrals are through Territory Families,Housing & Communities.

For the Kids’ helps parents understand what makes co-parenting work and to build skild and their capacity to sustain a cooperative co-parenting arrangement following separation,in the best interest of their children. The program helps parents understand the effects of conflict on children, build positive communication and reduce court action. For the Kids offers: individual counselling for parents; individual counselling for children and For the Kids group education short courses. Check website for course availability,noting indiviual sessions and followup support cna also be provided. *We use a sliding scale to set fees. Let us know if you are experiencing financial difficulties or are on a low income. No-one is excluded. Fees will be negotiated at your first appointment.

We have Children’s Contact Centres in Darwin and Alice Springs. They are safe and neutral spaces for supervised contact visits and/or family changeovers. This gives children the chance to have meaningful relationships with their parents and other significant people in their lives. We help separated families where there is conflict.

Changeovers: Our centres allow parents to drop off and pick up their children while avoiding contact with the other parent.

Supervised visits: Our centres allow parents to spend quality time with their children. These visits are supervised by our workers.

Our family and relationship counselling helps children, young people and adults to develop safe and supportive family relationships. We work with families to support wellbeing.

How we help

We provide counselling to help couples and families manage issues that can arise from relationship changes, separation or divorce. We help couples and families develop the skills they need to maintain positive and stable relationships with each other.

Ongoing legal representation is available to people who qualify for a grant of legal aid. We require you to meet a financial means test and your legal problem must be something we are funded to provide representation for.

Build a happy, healthy and lasting relationship through counselling. Our local counsellors have experience and training to help relationships. We work with couples to lower stress and conflict. We try to improve key areas such as communication, trust and intimacy.

Common topics that we can help with are:
• Communication issues
• Sexual and intimacy concerns
• Parenting
• Conflict and arguments
• Trauma, grief and loss
• Relationship changes and growth
• Separation & divorce. This can be extra support for people going through family dispute resolution.

Our accommodation focuses on providing an ambience where you feel right at home and offers the care you need. In most cases, a 24/7 care support is provided to participants and our care team assists you in daily living tasks and personal care needs.

Here at TK Community Care, we are a, passionate, community-focused organisation that places client needs at the heart of our operations. We support clients from all backgrounds with a range of needs, including participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Our Team is highly trained and dedicated to helping you create greater freedom and control over your support needs. We can provide specialised services those with physical and/or psychosocial disability. We offer Support Coordination, Psychosocial Recovery Coaching, Short-term Accommodation (STA), Supported Independent Living (SIL), Respite, In-home Support/s, Assistance with Development of Daily Life and Living Skills, Participation in Community, Social, and Civic Activities, Assistance with Travel and Transport, and other services. We are an NDIS registered provider and pride ourselves on delivering quality and individualised services. We are available Monday-Friday from 8:00am until 4:30pm.
