Aboriginal Resource & Development Service (ARDS)
Our work champions the importance of language and culture in developing self-empowerment for Aboriginal people. We provide a range of platforms for Aboriginal voices to be heard, and we support Aboriginal communities to become informed about, and engage on their own terms with mainstream services and systems.
Education & Communication Services
Provides capacity building in indigenous communities through education, support services and advocacy for indigenous people. Community development and cultural-awareness workshops are provided.
Health Education & Training
Provides health education and training about basic health, germs & microscopy, diabetes, HIV/AIDS and trongyloides for indigenous people.
Language, Education & Resource Centre
Works on behalf of indigenous people and with other service providers to facilitate self-determination & management within the wider community. Services include a resource centre, education & workshops, social welfare assistance, public relations and liaison with government departments &community organisations.
The Yolngu Radio Station provides local language broadcasts across Nhulunbuy, Yirrkala, Darwin and Palmerston, addressing communities’ cultural knowledge base and the questions that indigenous people want answered.
Northern Territory AIDS & Hepatitis Council – DarwinWe are the key non-government organisation working in the area of blood-borne viruses, education and support in the Northern Territory. We are committed to improving the health and wellbeing of all Territorians living with blood-borne viruses. Our service delivery operates from a holistic approach in accordance with the objectives of the Ottawa Charter (1986), and guided by key national and Northern Territory policies and legislation.Health Promotion
NTAHC’s Health Promotion and Communications team works to generate awareness within the community about BBVs and STIs, in particular by creating health promotion campaigns and resources targeting NTAHC priority populations.
Care and Support Program
NTAHC offers a range of services to empower all people affected by, or at risk of blood borne viruses, to lead a healthy life that is free of stigma and discrimination.
Harm Reduction (NSP)
NSP provides a comprehensive range of free sterile injecting equipment and disposal facilities, education on safe injecting practices and health promotion.
Sex Worker Outreach Program – SWOP NT
The SWOP NT is a peer-based health promotion service that engages sex workers and other sex industry stakeholders in the Northern Territory.
LGBTI Living Well Program
This program, an NTAHC initiative, supports people in the Northern Territory who experience life as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Intersex (LGBTI) through a range of varied and focused activities.
Northern Territory AIDS & Hepatitis Council (NTAHC)
NTAHC programs are aimed at preventing the transmission of blood borne viruses and have been developed to provide services, support and preventative initiatives with and for priority populations.
