Australian Regional and Remote Community Services (ARRCS) – Aged Care Homes – Hetti Perkins Aged Care Facility Alice Springs Services

The sense of spaciousness at our Hetti Perkins aged care facility suits the people who live here, many of whom have lived and worked in the region. At Hetti Perkins, our staff have time to talk with you. We recognise the importance of family and community connections and we actively support cultural customs, beliefs and practices.

Sundays are devoted to Outback Time, where residents sit by the fire and join us in preparing and cooking roo tails and bush tucker – some of it grown in our gardens. Your loved ones are welcome to join us for our family barbecue, held regularly.

Hetti Perkins is an Indigenous service, home to people from various local communities and language groups. At ARRCS, we work with local communities to support and develop an Indigenous workforce with knowledge and understanding to provide culturally appropriate care.

Residents’ emotional, cultural and spiritual wellbeing is supported by various partners. Visitors come in every fortnight from the Akeyulerre Healing Centre. There are also regular visits from local church groups, for mass, Bible reading and communion. Yirara College students talk and help with painting. Once a month popular performer Chico comes in to sing and play gospel music.

Hetti Perkins, a 60-bed aged care facility, has eight double and 36 single rooms, each with a private bathroom. A large spacious outside area promotes relaxation, social engagement and opportunities for meaningful activities.

A vivid painting of a butterfly spreading its wings adorns the entrance, illustrating the vision of our namesake: Arrernte woman Hetti Perkins, a pioneer of Aboriginal women’s empowerment.

Comfort, safety and feeling respected and valued is important to all of us. At ARRCS Hetti Perkins, we’re here for you.
