Borroloola School is located in the township of Borroloola, 970km southeast of Darwin. The population is approximately 800. There are four main clans: Garrawa, Mara, Yanyuwa and Gudanji. The main language is English and Aboriginal English. Borroloola can be accessed by a sealed bitumen road all year round or via air through regular passenger transport flights. Borroloola School provides education to students from FaFT to year 12. The school includes children from outstations at Devils Springs, Campbel Springs, Wandangulla, and town camps Yanyuwa, Mara, Garawa 1 and Garawa 2. Borroloola School has an extensive attendance plan that focuses on the active engagement of students. Borroloola School is a Two-Way learning school with the Learning on Country program. Borroloola School also has a Trade training center that offers VETiS opportunities. Borroloola School has the new Children and School Program called Lumbu, that employees local family members from each of the four clans. Lumbu works with Families an students to support school enagagement. Borroloola School has many strong partnerships to support the whole child. McArthur River River Mine Community Benefits Trust supplies food for a breakfast program, John Moriarty Foundation provides weekly Soccer skills and games and the local Sea Rangers work with the Learning on Country program.
