Welcome to Bradshaw Primary School. Bradshaw is an inclusive, friendly school where children can learn in a safe and supportive environment. The school is located in a picturesque setting at the foot of the McDonnell Ranges in spacious grounds. As a well-established school we have excellent resources and quality staff. Bradshaw is a school of around 500 students from Preschool to Year Six. Approximately 40% of our students are indigenous, whilst others come from a variety of multi-cultural backgrounds.
There are twenty classes in the primary school and four classes in the preschool. In addition to classroom teachers, there are a range of specialist and support teachers and staff to help cater for children’s individual learning needs.
Bradshaw focuses on continuous improvement, with key initiatives that include: Visible Learning, School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS), Relationships-based Learning, Social and Emotional Learning and Age Appropriate Pedagogies. Visible Learning identifies the most effective teaching and learning strategies that have the greatest impact on learning, based on the work of Professor John Hattie. School Wide Positive Behaviour Support is a framework for being explicit about expectations and co-ordinating social and emotional learning within the school. Relationships-based Learning comes from the work of Professor Russell Bishop and profiles the importance of supportive learning environments and strong relationships coupled with effective pedagogical practice for student progress. It also highlights the value of student voice in the strategic decision making of the school. Age Appropriate Pedagogies puts students in the centre and co-constructs the learning to maximise engagement. You will see the results of these initiatives in your child’s class and will hear much about them over the course of the year.
We welcome the involvement of parents and other family members in our school. We believe that the partnership between teachers, parents and carers underpins children’s success at school and offer many opportunities for family and community involvement throughout the year.
