Various holiday programs assist parents by providing recreational activities for primary-school children including camping and hunting trips.
Yalu Marnggithinyaraw Cultural Knowledge Centre
A knowledge centre for the Yolngu culture focusing on the gathering & teaching of traditional language and culture.
Programs include family support services; recreational &educational activities with a focus on culture; integration of cultural knowledge in primary-school and secondary-school curricula; family & community camp-fire nights; a drop-in centre for individuals and families needing assistance; recording of family histories and traditional stories; traditional fruit and bush medicine gardens; collaboration with the health clinic, school and other community organisations to provide health & wellbeing information and activities; parenting classes including specific classes for young mothers; cultural ceremonies; and vacation care programs focusing on traditional cultural activities.
As an independent, membership-driven, not-for-profit association, we work with our members to support and strengthen AOD service delivery for people who experience harmful substance use in the NT.
Our mission is to build and maintain a strong, sustainable and culturally diverse Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) sector that works together to reduce alcohol and other drug related harm across the Northern Territory.
