Laynhapuy Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services is the sole provider of health services in twenty very remote Homeland communities located through 6500 km² of East Arnhem Land.
Laynhapuy Health works to enhance the health and wellbeing of Yolngu people by providing holistic quality primary health care delivered in Homeland communities by culturally competent staff in partnership with people and their communities.
The Health service has its administrative base in Yirrkala and outreaches to deliver primary health and wellbeing services to twenty of the Homeland communities.
Teams of staff outreach four days per week up to 220 km travelling by 4WD or light aircraft from Yirrkala to deliver planned, prioritised health care, follow up on previous telephone triage and deal with “walk in” appointments and emergencies. Laynhapuy employs Aboriginal Health Workers who reside in their respective Homelands who provide valued cultural and community connections and liaise with health staff between visits.
